David Lesch, MD
Dr. David Lesch is a board-certified Neurologist who is also board-certified as a Sleep Medicine physician. Dr. Lesch received his BA in his home town of Chicago at Northwestern University and earned his MD at Rush University Medical School. Following medical school, Dr. Lesch completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Loyola University Affiliated Hospitals in Illinois. Dr. Lesch was long intrigued with the complexity of the human nervous system and pursued a Neurology Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston where he served as Chief Resident. He also obtained his Sleep Medicine training as part of a Clinical Neurophysiology and Sleep Medicine Fellowship at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
In 1989 Dr. Lesch began in the practice of Neurology as well as helped pioneer the practice of Sleep Medicine in Atlanta. He was one of the first physicians in the Atlanta area to be Board Certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Lesch founded the Sleep/Wake Center at Dunwoody Medical Center and the Sleep Disorders Center at Northlake Medical Center. Recognizing an area of Sleep Medicine that was underserved in the community, Dr. Lesch created the Insomnia Institute of Georgia in the mid 1990’s, which functioned as a multidisciplinary treatment center for chronic insomnia. He was instrumental in the creation of the Kennestone (now Wellstar) Sleep Disorders Center and still serves as Medical Co-Director. Additionally, he helped in the development of and serves as Medical Director for the Piedmont Mountainside Sleep Disorders Center.
In 2001, Dr. Lesch combined his Neurology Practice and the Northlake Sleep Laboratory with the Insomnia Institute of Georgia to create Georgia Neurology and Sleep Medicine Associates, featuring state of the art Neurology Diagnostic technology as well as the Johns Creek Sleep Disorders Center, fully accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The result has been the operation of a caring clinical environment where Dr. Lesch is able to combine his expertise in Sleep Medicine with a strong interest in Neurology, affording him the unique ability to address the full cadre of neurological disorders.
Dr. Lesch also conducts leading national and international clinical research trials in Sleep Medicine and Neurology as part of Georgia Neurology and Sleep Medicine Associates. He previously served as Section Chief, Department of Neurology, Emory Johns Creek Hospital.
In his spare time, Dr. Lesch enjoys traveling, boating, exercising and spending time with his family.
